Aims and Objectives of Arohana

Arohana, as a leading cultural organization committed to Odia Theatre, strives to achieve the following aims and objectives:

  1. Promote Social Awareness: To raise awareness about important social issues such as environment, literacy, health, and hygiene through various cultural activities and theatrical performances.
  2. Preserve and Develop Cultural Heritage: To develop and maintain the cultural heritage of Odia theatre in its traditional form, ensuring the continuity of this rich artistic tradition.
  3. Foster Collaboration: To coordinate with other cultural groups in the state to spread awareness through cultural programs, creating a network of like-minded organizations.
  4. Create a Cultural Hub: To act as a forum for artists from various disciplines, including painters, sculptors, playwrights, poets, writers, journalists, photographers, theatre activists, performing artists, and film-makers.
  5. Encourage Artistic Expression: To create opportunities for conceptualization, articulation, and realization of artistic ideas in various forms, including painting, sculptures, stage plays, street plays, telefilms, and documentaries.
  6. Promote Inclusivity: To ensure that all activities and benefits of the organization are accessible to economically backward classes, senior citizens, and people of India at large, regardless of caste, race, community, or creed.
  7. Nurture Talent: To provide meaningful training in performing theatre and drama, fostering the growth of new talent in the field.
  8. Recognize Excellence: To felicitate and honor eminent theatre artists through various awards, including the Arohana Life Time Achievement Award, Arohana Best Theatre Artist Award, and Arohana Emerging Theatre Artist Award.
  9. Organize Cultural Festivals: To conduct annual events such as Nikhila Utkal Natyotsaba, Women Drama Festivals, and Children Drama Festivals, promoting Odia culture within Odisha and beyond.
  10. Support Experimental Theatre: To provide a platform and resources for new experiments in the field of theatre, encouraging innovation and creativity.
